30 Rwandan students graduate after a One-Year Vocational Training Program in China
30 students from Musanze Campus of Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) have completed a one-year training program in China in partnership with Jinhua University of Vocational Technology.
This marks the first cohort to graduate from the long-term student exchange and knowledge-sharing program between the two institutions.
The students specialized in E-Commerce and Electrical Automation Technology.

Natacha Umwari Ange, one of the graduates in E-Commerce, highlighted how the partnership between Rwanda Polytechnic and Jinhua University allowed her to expand her knowledge and gain hands-on experience. She also had the opportunity to work with Cainiao, an e-commerce logistics company.
She stated:”The knowledge and international exposure we gained in China strengthened our professional skills. My team and I even participated in the 2024 WorldSkills competition and won a gold medal. Now, I am ready to launch and promote online businesses both in Rwanda and internationally.”
Uwamahoro Alphonsine, another graduate in E-Commerce, shared her experience:
“Our studies in e-commerce were complemented by practical training in advanced industries in China, giving us insight into attracting customers and understanding market demands. I am returning home with a business plan to collaborate with Chinese industries, importing advanced fruit-processing equipment. These machines are in high demand as people seek healthier lifestyles, yet they are often expensive and inaccessible.”

The graduates were awarded certificates upon completing their training.
Eng. Emile Abayisenga, Director General of Rwanda Polytechnic, Musanze Campus, emphasized the positive impact of the collaboration in improving education quality and creating job opportunities.
“We are proud of our students’ dedication. This partnership with Jinhua University reflects our shared vision of producing highly skilled professionals ready to compete in the job market, innovate, and drive development both in Rwanda and globally.”
Zhu Chonglie, a representative of the Jinhua municipal government, echoed this sentiment:
“Our collaboration with Rwanda Polytechnic demonstrates the power of international education projects. We are impressed by the students’ dedication and are confident this partnership will continue benefiting both institutions.”
The students selected for this program had excelled in their first two years at Musanze Campus, qualifying them to complete their studies in China. During their stay, they maintained excellent academic performance and participated in global vocational skills competitions, winning bronze and gold medals. Some even secured employment opportunities in Chinese industries.

This first graduation highlights the strong educational cooperation between Rwanda and China, laying the foundation for continued collaboration between the two institutions.
The first cohort of students returned to Rwanda this week, while some remained in China for work or further studies.
The second cohort is expected to arrive in China in March 2025 to complete their final year of studies.
