From January 1, 2018, Rwanda introduced a new visa policy. For citizens not exempted from visa requirements, you can apply and pay for your visa either online or upon arrival.
You must apply for your visa yourself; no one is allowed to apply on your behalf. All visitors from around the world are granted visas upon arrival, valid for up to one month. The visa fees should not exceed 50 USD for single entry or 70 USD for multiple entries.
Rwandans holding dual nationality can travel to Rwanda using their Rwandan national ID, without paying for a visa.
The Rwandan government has announced that individuals with diplomatic and service passports have visa waiver agreements with Gabon, India, Israel, Djibouti, Guinea, Ethiopia, Turkey, and Morocco.
Citizens of COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) member states are issued a visa upon arrival (with a set fee) for a stay of up to three months.
Individuals from African Union member states and Francophonie member countries are granted a free one-month visa on arrival.
Travelers intending to visit Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda for tourism can apply for an East African Tourist Visa (EATV). This can be done either upon arrival, through the IREMBO online platform, or through a Rwandan diplomatic mission abroad.
If you receive an EATV before your trip, you must first enter the country from which you applied. The EATV costs 100 USD and is valid for three months, with multiple entries (for the three countries).
Visitors holding an East African Tourist Visa cannot use it for work purposes. However, if someone wishes to extend their visa, they must apply before the current visa expires.
