Rwanda generated more than RWF 11.8 billion in export earnings from agricultural commodities between 6 and 10 July 2026, according to data released by the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB).

During the five-day period, the country exported 9,101 metric tonnes of agricultural produce, underscoring the sector’s pivotal role in generating foreign exchange earnings and driving Rwanda’s broader economic transformation.

A diverse range of agricultural commodities accounted for the largest share of export revenues. Exports totaling 7,048 metric tonnes generated more than RWF 5.12 billion, with principal destinations including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United States of America (USA), and several African markets.

Tea and coffee—Rwanda’s flagship export commodities—continued to make a substantial contribution to export receipts. Tea exports reached 585 metric tonnes, yielding more than RWF 2.44 billion, while 253 metric tonnes of coffee generated in excess of RWF 1.76 billion.

Vegetable exports totaled 620 metric tonnes, generating more than RWF 1.27 billion. Key export markets included China, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, France, and various African countries.

Fruit exports amounted to 321 metric tonnes, earning over RWF 485 million, with the bulk of shipments destined for the United Arab Emirates, France, and regional African markets.

Livestock-derived products accounted for 270 metric tonnes of exports, generating more than RWF 611 million, with the overwhelming majority exported to African countries.

Meanwhile, flower exports totaled 4 metric tonnes, generating more than RWF 32 million, primarily destined for Nigeria, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

The latest export statistics illustrate Rwanda’s sustained progress in diversifying its export destinations while enhancing the value proposition of its agricultural produce. They further reinforce the strategic significance of the agricultural sector as a cornerstone of the country’s foreign exchange generation, economic resilience, and long-term export-led growth agenda.
